 Scriptural Touchstone

The Stinger is Gone

The apostle Paul tells us in Romans, “The wages of sin are death”.

  • When someone gets stung by a bee, it doesn’t usually result in death. But it could, if someone was highly allergic. When we commit sin, it doesn’t usually result in death, although occasionally it does. Nonetheless, the consequences of sin result in death at some point on this earth.

The Message Bible tells us God’s plan to remove sin, guilt and death. Reading from 1 Corinthians 15, “Let me tell you something wonderful, a mystery I’ll probably never fully understand. We’re not all going to die — but we are all going to be changed. You hear a blast to end all blasts from a trumpet, and in the time that you look up and blink your eyes — it’s over. On signal from that trumpet from heaven, the dead will be up and out of their graves, beyond the reach of death, never to die again.

At the same moment and in the same way, we’ll all be changed. In the resurrection scheme of things, this has to happen: everything perishable is taken off the shelves and replaced by the imperishable, this mortal replaced by the immortal. Then the saying will come true: Death swallowed by triumphant Life! Who got the last word, oh, Death? Oh, Death, who’s afraid of you now? It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three — sin, guilt, death — are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God!

In other words, the stinger from our sin has been removed. The red dot on the skin where the stinger entered is like guilt. Our guilt dies at the cross, and we receive the healing balm of Gilead. Finally, the consequence of the sting of sin is not eternal death. Death is swallowed up by everlasting life! This is the crux of the good news. This is why we celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection every year.

Happy Easter!

Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help…

(Psalm 39:12)

God’s Answered Prayer One woman’s pain went from an 8 to a 2. We asked what God did for her. Her answer was, “Set me free. Gave me hope. Relieved my pain. Broke generational curses.”

“I felt God working in and through the prayers that were prayed. I felt peace after the appointment.”   “When the Father speaks in these sessions there’s an abundance of healing that actually takes place in your heart and soul right there on the spot. For me, comfort is healing. Being heard and affirmed allows me to see God’s hand in my life.”

The prayer requests were for God to act on many issues including court cases, anger at God for delayed answers to prayer, relationships with family members, brain cancer, insomnia, knee pain, job openings, UTIs, kidney infections, respiratory issues, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, hip replacement surgery, recovery from prostate cancer, migraines, finances, mental clarity, thyroid growths, frozen shoulder, hearing restored, mold exposure, dietary concerns, spiritual warfare, breast cancer, and eyesight improvement.
