Trust What You Hear from God

Hearing from God comes in many different ways. Ultimately, God connects with everyone personally. It is through these personal connection moments that we know (deep inside) a truth that resonates with us. From these truths, we can move forward in trusting what God tells us about our lives, our situations, and our destinies.

God speaks through His Scripture. I had an oral surgeon who looked at my Xray and told me that I had a very challenging root canal and he would do his best, but he wasn’t sure he was going to be able to get to the bottom of the root of the tooth. If he couldn’t, I would lose the tooth. God had given me a verse a few days earlier that had stuck with me. It was from the Psalms about King David. “So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands” (Psalm 78:72). The phrase that stuck with me was “[He] guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.” This became my prayer going into the appointment. When he told me he would try his best, I told the doctor that I was praying that God would guide the skillfulness of his hands. I saw God’s hands over the doctor’s hands during the surgery. He ended up using a new tool that just barely got him around a corner in the root structure of the tooth. Throughout the whole surgery, I kept repeating that verse over and over again in my head. It became the truth of my situation. The surgery went well and I kept the tooth!

God speaks through personal words that He gives people. I know a woman who was quite ill and asked God specifically if it was her time to go to heaven. She heard very clearly, “No, there’s more for you to do on earth.” She tucked this into her heart and believed that there would be more chapters after her condition improved. The diagnosis had been cancer of the blood and there were blood transfusions and platelet counts, white blood cell counts, and pain medication. Through it all, she kept saying to herself, her husband, and the doctors, “God’s not done with me yet.” About 3 months into the process, and several hospital visits later, she regained her vitality and vim. The doctors were amazed. She stood on several scripture promises as well as her personal word, held firm to the conviction that there was more for her to do, and rode out the waves to health.

When a person comes to our Healing Rooms, they get an appointment with at least two prayer ministers who have asked God ahead of the appointment, not knowing what would come into their room, for a word. The team members get a picture image, a Scripture, a phrase, a Biblical truth, or a song for the individual. Then they share it. Sometimes these words resonate on the spot. Sometimes, it doesn’t and it just seems like a nice thought. Sometimes it makes sense days after the appointment. Sometimes the Lord confirms the point in a sermon or a conversation with a trusted friend. We encourage people to write these words down and ask God about it over time. These “rhema” words can often be part of a healing process for health concerns, relationship concerns, and seemingly impossible situations. Each word is unique for the appointment.

Other ways God speaks to an individual is through a personal encounter, a dream, a song on the radio, devotionals, Bible Studies or a sermon at church. Sometimes God highlights a point by having more than one way to get the same message across. However He does it, God still speaks to us in our lives today. His words are timely. Whether it’s a course correction, or a message of comfort, or a reminder of His love, the Words of God are for our benefit.
God Answers Prayer
Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

One woman arrived concerned about relationship with her adult son. The word ahead of time was, “Do not look to your feelings or to the struggles you are currently facing. God is bigger than the struggles. Look to God. He has the answers and He will bring you through.” After talking and praying, the woman left feeling a lot better, encouraged and laughing.

One woman came in with a painful shoulder that she could only raise to slightly below shoulder level. The prayer team had her put her own hand on her should and say a healing prayer over herself out loud in Jesus’ name. After she did this, she was able to raise her arm straight up. It’s possible to forget to pray for ourselves sometimes. To do this, we put our own hand on the painful area and pray for healing. This woman got dramatic results.
The teams prayed for anger issues, recovery from a car accident, family members who practice witchcraft, mother-daughter relationships, job search, identity-clarity, discernment, wisdom, understanding, breakthrough, economic prosperity, finding a place in the marketplace ministry, peace, strength, dealing with divorce, grief, looking for work, trusting in God, continued recovery from surgery, home remodel, legal counsel, protection guidance, wisdom, addiction issues, salvation, freedom from fear, blood pressure regulation, throat cancer, collapsed lung, diabetes, colitis, joint discomfort, emotional healing, low energy, stomach aches, starting a new job, feeling alone in life, relinquishing fear, finding relationships, daughter to be saved, strongholds in family to be cast down, bipolar issues, caregiving a mother long distance, back pain, and shame removal.
