Invitation to Pray with SVHR June 6, 2023 & Newsletter

Celebrating Pentecost

Pentecost is where the fire of the Lord came down on approximately 120 people. Flames of fire were on top of peoples’ heads and people started talking in strange languages. They didn’t know it then or have terms for it, but the Holy Spirit was given to the people who believed Jesus was the son of God, crucified, and risen from the dead. On that one day, 3000 people joined these 120 by believing and being baptized (see Acts 2:41).

One of the benefits to having the Holy Spirit come and live inside us is that we get to pray for people to be saved, healed and delivered. This is the will of God. He uses people to be His hands and feet on earth. God wants us to lay hands on people, pray for healing, and watch God heal them (see James 5:14, Acts 28:8). Jesus did this Himself while on earth. (See Luke 13:11-13, Mark 1:31, and Mark 8:22-26). He delegated this to His disciples to do while on earth. (see Mark 6:7,13, Luke 10:1,9,17). He commanded His followers to do this as He gave His final instructions for life. (See Matt28:16-20, Mark 16:14-18). And then believers received the Holy Spirit and continued to carry on this pattern of praying for healing and God healing people throughout history.

Some people get healed on the first prayer. Others have to persevere, contend, and press in to obtain their healing. Medical science has allowed people to get healing, but even this is not a guarantee. Prayer and getting clean with God remains a key piece in the process.

It helps to personally study out the Scriptural references for oneself. Most Americans listen to their doctors exclusively. It helps to ask God what He has to say. If there’s an issue with sleep, use a concordance to see what God says about sleep in the Bible (see Psalm 3:5, 4:8, and more). If there’s an issue with ears or hearing, look up what the Bible has to say about ears and healing. The same holds true with eyes, knees, bones, kidneys, liver. When it comes to the heart, there are hundreds of verses on this subject. It may seem unrelated, but keep researching and see if there is a pattern. Consider family patterns the same way a doctor would look at illness patterns in a family line. Follow God’s suggestions for these conditions and see if there is any improvement. The results can be surprising.

Pentecost did not nullify what the Old Testament said. It usually incorporated the principles and patterns of the Old Testament and gave them fuller definition and meaning. Start with Scripture and bring your questions to your next appointment.

Exodus 15:26, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statues, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

Our last Healing Rooms Open Hours was the first Open Hours since the PTSD conference in May. Several people asked for prayer around the topic of trauma. Many felt relief, but then needed to navigate through their circumstances. Learning to let God into one’s pain, while grasping the depth of His love for each person is the first step to partnering with God through the sticky points of trauma, and all of life’s challenges.

A woman came in with a request for a fair settlement in a divorce hearing. The court has heard the case and been fair in determining settlement. Now the prayer is that there will be follow through on the adherence to what the court settlement is. The woman really understands what it means to hear a verse highlighted in advance to the team members and allowing it to be a truth she can depend on.

One woman asked for direction and wisdom from God in how to proceed in her situation. She felt lighter after the prayer and the burden was lifted. Her circumstances are still coming into alignment with the prayer. But she writes that she is no longer carrying the weight of anger or outcome on her shoulders. This has been a blessing to the Lord.

One lady came and the team got a word from God ahead of time from John 15 about abiding in God like a branch that remains in the vine. This was not a new revelation to the woman, who knows scripture. But looking at this with a fresh interest and applying it to her current circumstances gave it new meaning to her. She has felt God’s love and care for her since that appointment when abiding with God had seemed rather distant and difficult prior to the prayer time. Her heart was encouraged and her spirits were lifted to meet the challenges going on in life.

The teams prayed for job interviews, finding housing, court cases, finding destiny, insomnia, depression, back pain, knee pain, tennis elbow, decisions about work, fibromyalgia, parent-children relationships, college graduates that need to find their first job, trauma relief from recent and long ago times, chemotherapy side effects, breaking curses, marriage and divorce challenges, mental stability and well-being, caring for elderly parents, finances, physical hearing, and abdominal pain.
