Prescription: Take Communion

Dr. Kevin Zadai recently did a teaching on Accessing the Supernatural Benefits of Communion. You can watch the full teaching here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-mTKcCGFxY. I will reference a couple of points briefly.

Jesus said a confusing couple of sentences to his disciples. It caused a lot of disciples to stop following Jesus because they couldn’t understand the concepts. They are still a mystery today. John 6:53-56 reads, “Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them” (NIV). We know now that part of the way we eat and drink of Jesus’ body and blood is to take Communion. There are so many stories of people who have taken Communion while ill, sometimes deathly ill, and have survived. Think of it as a spiritual meal. Even one bite and one sip has substance in the physical realm that can heal our bodies.

The act of taking communion is not to be done lightly. Paul addresses the need to examine oneself and partake in a worthy manner. This includes doing the deep cleansing work of thorough repentance and forgiveness of others and ourselves.

Part of that process is uncovering and giving up any judgments we have made. Judgments include labeling people for their behavior. (e.g. “That person is an idiot” when we don’t like their driving. “That person is a fool” when we don’t like their decision at work. “That person is ugly” when we don’t like someone’s looks. Etc.) If we don’t stop judging, we open the door to being judged. “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep” (1 Corinthians 11:29-30). Paul strongly suggests we take communion, but not out of emotion, or ritual pattern, or a religious process.

When we do take Communion, we are eating and taking the life of Jesus into our bodies. His supernatural life and power can work in our physical bodies. It’s not about eating an entire loaf of bread to get healthy quicker. It’s about linking our hearts, our minds, our attitudes, and our hope with all that He is, all His power, all His love, and all His destiny for our lives.

You are invited to take Communion once a day before your quiet time and note any changes.

God Answers Prayer

A young man, along with his mother, asked for prayer as his liver suddenly seemed to stop working and the doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He had been at Stanford Hospital for over a week when we learned about the situation. There were not enough red blood cells to do a bone marrow operation, so it felt untreatable. After much prayer (many people were praying) he got a diagnosis of eloxpic anemia, which explained the symptoms and is treatable.

One woman came with skin issues and a frozen shoulder. Over the weeks of prayer and no change, it felt hopeless. After the team prayed with her, her faith in God’s healing power was strengthened. Since the appointment, she has felt the power of the Holy Spirit at work strengthening her faith in healing as she studied healing stories in the Bible. She believes healing is possible for her. Her confidence in believing for God’s physical healing was restored.

One woman came to the Healing Rooms with a list of challenging circumstances in her work, her finances, her adult children, and her caregiving responsibilities. The team listened and shared their pictures images and scriptures they had for her. Then they took the issues before the Lord. It is very powerful to hear other people pray for our needs. She felt more calm and peace and hope after the team members prayed.

The prayers requests were for God to act on many issues including liver issues, blood clots, heart conditions, eczema, prostate cancer, knee surgery, caregiving challenges with family members, anxiety, a new place to live, finding a used car, hearing loss, joint pain, marriages, and relationships with grown children and/or siblings, and theological questions challenging core faith belief.
