Invitation to Pray with SVHR May 16, 2023 & Newsletter

New Strategies

We are in the time between Easter and Pentecost. It was in this time frame that Jesus appeared to many people individually, to the disciples, and in group gatherings. He taught and gave the commissions to make disciples of all the nations, baptize people, teach them to observe the commandments, preach the gospel, cast out demons, speak with new tongues, lay hands on the sick, be witnesses to what was seen, teach people to repent and receive forgiveness for sins, and teach them to receive the Holy Spirit. All of these action items were new strategies to the disciples and the people. (See Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24 and John 21.)

Today, we are again in that time between Easter and Pentecost. It is a time we can go and ask God for strategies we need for this time in our lives.  Most of God’s strategies are simple and doable. Here is a list of some possible strategies that God may have for you.

  • Set a boundary with other people’s demands on your life
  • Take Communion every day with a goal of better understanding covenant
  • Pray in your private language for a dedicated period of time every day (such as 10 minutes)
  • Try a Thanksgiving Journal
  • Praise God for a different attribute of His every day for 30 days
  • Walk outside every day and look for something new to thank God for in nature
  • Honor the Sabbath (with the goal of developing a weekly rhythm)
  • Focus on the needs of someone else
  • FAST (something just between you and God that He will know what a sacrifice it is)
  • Bless your family members with the things you “wish” would change
  • Ask God how He sees you each day
  • Read a Psalm every day
  • Ask God a fresh and different question each day about the “same old” challenge in your life
  • As you read this list, you can see if there’s a Holy Spirit nudge to try one of these suggestions, or anything else God might whisper in your ear.

Be encouraged to try a new strategy!

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

A woman with a request for a job and a need to meet finances got her answer with a “test” when a waiter dropped a lot of cash without realizing it from his apron. She thought of how the money could pay for gas and food. But she tacked the man down and gave him all that had fallen out of his apron. He thanked her and she went home empty handed and kept praying. The next day a large, unexpected check arrived in the mail, which was enough to make the rent payment due in a couple of days. Further, doors of opportunity and appointments to meet with recruiting managers started to open. Yes, the answer to getting new job can take time and steps in the process. But she felt God was with her in the journey, and he is expectantly looking for His solution to the prayer request.

A woman came in with a request who had not been to the Healing Rooms in over 5 years. She said we had prayed for her son and daughter several years ago for allergies. She told us that they had been healed and do not suffer from symptoms any longer. So she was returning with a new request. The team was amazed and shared the news with the leadership. We had not heard about the disappearance of symptoms, but we rejoiced in what God did 5 years earlier. Sharing the results of prayer boosted the confidence of the team to pray with absolute certainty that this woman would get her answer to prayer on this current prayer request. And we share that story here with you, believing it will give you two data points of confidence that God does indeed heal allergies. We pause and praise God for what He did 5 years ago as an answer to prayer!

We prayed with a woman who came with a request for some challenging daughter-in-law issues. The daughter-in-law had some early challenges in life and attends church but doesn’t have high expectations of God to do much in her life. As a result, her defenses and distrust are in full response at all times. It makes get-togethers infrequent and challenging. The team gave her the picture images they had received from God in advance. The women left with a renewed awareness that she and God were in partnership together for the same goals of loving this daughter-in-law. God enlarged her heart to pray for the daughter-in-law with grace and patience and God’s everlasting love, beyond the desire to get to see the grandchildren more and be treated with respect. She also got reminded of God’s love for her far beyond what family members can or cannot give at any particular time in life. She left aware of God’s ability to meet several layers of prayer needs for many people as He answered her individual prayer request. The partnership felt good with trusting God’s promises to do things she cannot do directly by herself.

The teams prayed for job interviews, finding housing, court cases, finding destiny, weak lungs, depression, back pain, knee pain, tennis elbow, decisions about work, fibromyalgia, parent-children relationships, adult children that have lost their faith, college graduates that need to find their footing in the world, trauma relief from recent and long ago times, chemotherapy side effects, breaking curses, marriage and divorce challenges, coping with narcissists, mental stability and well-being, caring for elderly parents, finances, physical hearing, and abdominal pain.
