Invitation to Pray with SVHR January 16, 2024 & Newsletter

SPIRITUAL PILLARS FOR 2024

What’s the word for the year? Some people take time with God to discern a “word,” or a “phrase,” that they believe is their individual theme for the year. Some people seek prophetic words that strongly resonate as a word for the season. This year seems to have lot of change in the air with an upcoming Presidential election, and Mama Bears rising up about parental rights and educational curriculum, along with economic swings which bring uncertainty about jobs in Silicon Valley.

In the midst of this, Scripture offers some timeless advice for people seeking God’s wisdom. One verse that popped out in the first few days of the year reads, “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13 NASB). It completely rang true. Then I looked it up on other versions. Here’s what the Amplified translates, “Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith (your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength!”

It occurred to me that this verse would be an excellent candidate for another goal this year of memorizing Scripture. A good mnemonic acronym could be AFCS.

A – Be Alert spiritually, and on your guard against the devil and his schemes. (See Ephesians 6:11 and 2 Corinthians 2;11.) Gaining victory in this area requires developing good discernment, plus awareness of our weaknesses, and the strategies and techniques that come against us.

F – Stand firm in the Faith. This means taking steps to stay active in what we know to be true, reading the Bible for ourselves, and living with the fear of God. Micah 6:8 says it like this, “He has shown you O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

C – Some translations say to “Act like men.” The depiction is designed to evoke a warrior who is bold and full of courage. The deeper meaning behind this phrase is to act boldly and be Courageous. Many translations simply shorten this phrase to, “Be courageous,” or “Be of good courage.”

S – Be Strong. So simple and yet this can be a challenging directive. We don’t have to be strong on our own. Even when we are weak, Jesus comes alongside us and offers us His limitless strength. We co-labor with in partnership with Jesus to accomplish all that He has asked us to do. “God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

So let us go forward this year, “Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong” (CSB). The next verse 14 adds, “Do everything in love.” These directives outline our challenge for 2024.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

A man had a good experience at the Healing Rooms. In the appointment the topic of anger was discussed and its source and how to replace it with patience and forgiveness. Christ took the burden for him and is helping him to be more loving to those around him.

One woman reports that her session was so powerful!!! She was in a lot of pain and they released her out of the pain in her soul and into joy. The physical pain did not all go away. But the improvement brought encouragement. She no longer feels held captive. The next day the Lord affirmed what had happened in the appointment to the woman and gave her further explanation and vision for the trial she was in.

One woman said she was moved and encouraged. The words she received captured a lot of what she had been talking to God about all year. The words given to her were so powerful, affirming what the track she was on. It put to rest many things she had been wondering about in life. She left with more expectant hope, confidence, and excitement about the future.

One lady simply said “My appointment was great!”

The teams prayed for jobs, moving decisions, court cases, finding destiny, back pain, sleep instead of insomnia, decisions about work, throat issues, parent-child relationships, trauma relief, cancer cells to go, chemotherapy side effects to diminish, breaking curses, marriage challenges, depression and mental well-being, help in caring for elderly parents, financial miracles, physical hearing issues, and prodigal children.
