CLOSING THE BACK DOORS
2024 has been identified as the Year of the Door. Opportunities and destiny lie before us. As we prepare to move forward, it is also a time of closing the back doors. The enemy has a sneaky way of returning through open back doors to re-instigate old action points or thinking patterns we’ve tried to outgrow.
It’s been a month since the holidays and family get-togethers. Have we looked at anything we see as generational patterns that need to be repented of and forgiven? Again? This closes a back door. Is there anyone in the family that needs to be forgiven for what they’ve done or said? Is there any neighbor being stubborn or annoying? Are there any friendship hurts that need to be addressed before the Lord? Now is the time to do it. Let the rainy season be a reminder to get as clean as possible spiritually to be part of the springtime that is around the corner. The key is forgiveness. Not because the people deserve it. But because it creates an opening for honor and glory to forgive. “Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger, and it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment]” (Proverbs 19:11 AMP).
A second way to close the back door is to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any lies we might be believing. They could be subtle. “I hate a color, or a type of food or operating system updates.” Do we really? Is this true? Or is it something that needs to be revisited? Or is there a better way to phrase it without making it a point of hatred?
Or the “medium” lies that believe someone doesn’t like me because they don’t do or say a certain thing. Really? Take time with the Lord to ask Him his opinion of the situation. Let us learn to seek God’s opinion and see how He looks at the same situation rather than man’s opinion. This could be opinions stated in the news, or by our friends. Let us learn to put on lenses of love and look past the harsh words or different behavior patterns to see the person behind the walls that they (or we) have built.
The “hardcore” lies lead to paths of hatred and anger and violence. Some lies are directed at others and some are directed at ourselves. These lies can stem from rejection, never feeling loved growing up, neglect, or ignorance. Most of the time, the enemy likes to whisper thoughts that lead toward believing God doesn’t care or that He doesn’t really love us individually. If we can catch these whispers and ask, “What’s the truth?” it can stop the downward mindset. When we still can’t see it, it’s time to talk with a friend or counselor, pray, and seek out what Scripture says.
All these are ways to close the doors to unforgiveness, unbelief and false conclusions about life.
Lastly, we need to be alert to ways to recognize the spirit of division. There are a lot of people, media reports, and reasonings at work to create separation and division between family members, marriages, and friends. Let us ask God to find points of unity and connection, even when we have different viewpoints on various matters. Love should be winning in our lives. The ability to choose love is the ability to slam the door shut on division. We hear 1 Corinthians 13 at every wedding we attend. But the Bible challenges us to live this out daily. “Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” This run-on sentence is designed to give us a spill-over life of love.
So let us work on closing any open back doors in our lives so that God can open the doors of opportunity and destiny.
God Answers Prayer
Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:
A woman said that after her visit to the Healing Rooms, her old manager was let go from work (a year after this prayer room visitor had moved on from that job). Several former colleagues reached out to let her know and ask this woman for her support. She also had a close family member reach out and share a desire to return to church. The prayers in the Healing Rooms helped prepare her, almost as a warning, for the events that followed that same week. She was able to stand without a need to respond and continue to have peace with the outcomes that were out of her hands. She was amazed and how things unfolded and how God is moving in her life.
One woman said her stress went from a 6 to a 3. One of the prayer ministers had seen (before the meeting) a woman praying on her knees and told the prayer minister to tell the woman in the appointment that God acknowledged her faithfulness. This image brought a lot of comfort and strength to her during her suffering and trial. She was greatly strengthened and determined to continue the fight.
One lady said her pain did not change. But she gained a new perspective on a challenging family situation, which was helpful. Since her visit, she has been trying to follow God’s lead.
The teams prayed for jobs, moving decisions and timing, court cases, finding destiny, back pain, sleep instead of insomnia, decisions about work, spots on a lung, parent-child relationships, trauma relief, cancer cells to go, chemotherapy side effects to diminish, breaking curses, marriage challenges, mental well-being, help in caring for elderly parents, financial miracles, physical hearing issues, and prodigal children.
Note: Tim Sheets has had a vision of God sprinkling dreams and visions on many young people this year. We’ve been praying for direct personal encounters for prodigal loved ones to come back into relationship with the Lord.
