Declarations of Scripture

We find lots of scripture with promises in the Bible. And it’s easy to read these as merely nice sentences. In fact, if God promises something in scripture, it can be depended upon. How is that possible?

Sometimes, a particular sentence or scripture will leap off the page and into our hearts. It becomes ours. Maybe it’s the coincidence that it showed up in our devotion time on a day we really needed it. “He leads me beside still waters” (See Psalm 23:2) when the river outside our home is rising due to the rains and our cabin is in danger. Suddenly that promise to still the water and lead me beside the river (and not in it) becomes a little too real.

Maybe it is a friend sharing what she found in scripture and it feels like it could be true for me too. “You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what He said” (Luke 1:45).

Once we believe something, we can speak about it. “I believed and therefore I spoke” (2 Corinthians 4:13). We see this pattern talked about in Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (NKJV).

Part of coming to a belief is to repeat a truth until you know that you know it is true. The truth becomes part of the belief structure. Speaking a scripture out loud is one way to build that truth into one’s personal reality. Paul prayed for the Ephesians that they would be able to comprehend with all the saints, “…what is the width and the length and the depth and height—to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:18-19). God wants us to know how much He loves us. Paul wrote this scripture to try and get the point across. Reading this verse several times a day helps make it our reality. Changing the pronouns also helps to make it personal. For example, “God wants me to comprehend, as a saint of God, the width and length and depth and height of Christ’s love in my heart.”

The Bible tells us that, “…angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heed the voice of His word” (Psalm 103:20). Speaking God’s word out loud can bring supernatural help of angels. Further, it makes God happy when we learn His word and trust his word. “The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him” (Psalm 18:30). “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him” (Proverbs 30:5). As we learn to memorize scripture and believe it is true for us personally, we start to “own” it as ours. It becomes our truth, our shield. This is particularly helpful going through a challenging time in life.

Silicon Valley Healing Rooms is putting together 30 Declarations for Healing based on various scriptures. If you would like a copy of these Declarations, please ask for the Handout in your in your next appointment, or request one via email.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms’ Open Hours:

A lady came in for prayer in looking for a job. She reports that her experience was excellent. She had high expectations and was matched by the two prayer ministers that met with her. The scripture references were right on point. The words resonated deep within her. She left feeling very blessed.

One man came with pain and stress levels at a 10. By the end of the appointment, they were at a 3. He said his experience was “Excellent.”  The doctors had been talking very negative about his condition. By the end of his appointment he said the fear of death had disappeared.

One woman came in with pain level at a 7 and left with the pain level at a 2. She said she felt lifted up and encouraged. She found comfort and peace from God. She left with more confidence in the Lord.

Another man came with a request to break a curse that had been spoken in another country over his wife. This appointment came with a lot of education and blessing the man with the knowledge of the authority Jesus had delegated to his followers. He was willing to embark on the journey of getting back to health for his wife and awareness of various tools God has given the body of Christ in spiritual warfare. He left with prayer, recommendations for Bible Study Guides, specific scriptures for his situation, and hope.

The teams prayed for job interviews, finding housing, cancer diagnosis and wisdom in selecting cancer treatment plans, court cases, bladder surgery, depression, back pain, knee pain, decisions about work, unable-to-diagnose energy depletion, parent-children relationships, cutting through medical paperwork red tape, corporate politics, trauma relief, clear thinking after

the fog of COVID, chemotherapy side effects, breaking curses, marriage challenges, coping with workaholics, caring for elderly parents, finances, disequilibrium, and overcoming guilt and shame.
