Invitation to Pray with SVHR April 18 2023 & Newsletter

Entering In After Easter

Many churches now offer baptism as part of their Easter celebration service. It seems natural that people who come and learn of Jesus’s death on the cross for them, and resurrection, would want to commit their lives to Jesus and start worshiping Him. What a day to enter into the wonders of being a Christ follower.

For a new believer, Communion is a physical way to partake of the new life. Jesus declared He was the bread of life (see John 6:35). He continued by saying, “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world” (John 6:33). The disciples then asked Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” Later, Jesus again invited the disciples to partake of the body, and think of His body, knowing what would happen to it as he physically endured one of the worst nights in history. “My body which is given for you…” (John 22:19).

The second part of Communion is drinking the cup, which represents the blood of Jesus. We can take this for our physical bodies because Scripture tells us that, “by His stripes we were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus endured physical torture, whippings, beatings, and being nailed to a cross. The pain Jesus endured was for our healing. As we partake, we can let His blood take on our physical ailments as we take on His healing as our portion.

Not everyone needs physical healing. We can also take Communion knowing that the blood also cleanses our anxiety-based set of emotions for a joy-based set of emotions. Every day life makes it easy to carry annoyance, offense, stress, and fear. In taking Communion, we exchange these for joy, hope, excitement, and boldness. Communion reminds us that we are partners with Jesus, for whom nothing is impossible. Peter invites us, “Cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Since all means all, we can bring every big and little concern for God’s undivided attention in prayer before Him. Taking Communion allows the blood of Jesus to cleans, protect, strengthen, and change the things we pray for.

The next time you take Communion, enter in to the privileges of partaking of Jesus’ flesh (body) and blood by allowing these elements to touch every prayer you carry in your heart.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms’ Open Hours:

A lady came in for prayer with anxiety at a level 10 and left with a level 2. The words that she received from the team members, who took time ahead of the appointment to hear from God, were very encouraging. She left the appointment with “nothing but more confidence.”

One man came with pain and stress levels at a 10 and left with a 3. “I felt God was speaking to me through the prayer ministers. I felt God’s calm and peace in the appointment. The prayer team’s visual impressions received during prayer time left me hopeful and gave me something to meditate on later before God.” One of the requests had been for financial concerns. A few days after the appointment, the man came across an envelope with $250 in it. He felt this was a sign from God, assuring him that God is able to meet all his financial needs.

Another man came in a few weeks ago and received a word about the joy of the Lord. He realized that he had not had joy since being diagnosed with a serious disease. It has been mostly stress. He reported back that he had been trying to allow the joy of Jesus into his heart even without any change in the medical diagnosis. He started with things he was grateful for and it has really grown to experiencing a core of joy, independent of physical circumstances. He is grateful to God for learning how to abide in Jesus’ joy.

The teams prayed for job interviews, finding housing, court cases, feelings of abandonment, enlarged liver, depression, back pain, knee pain, decisions about work, fibromyalgia, parent-children relationships, corporate politics, trauma relief, chemotherapy side effects, breaking curses, marriage and divorce challenges, coping with workaholics, caring for elderly parents, finances, disequilibrium, and fear of death.
