HEALING TRUTH
Enduring faith brings breakthrough. Faith is developed through character. Bill Johnson highlights 4 important things God uses to develop character.
1. Disappointment. If we can’t trust God in disappointment, we won’t trust him with fulfilled dreams. We discover his comfort in hard times. We need this for fulfilled good times. We also learn to rely on His strength in all circumstances.
2. Loss. As we learn to trust God in loss moments, we will be able to experience gain with Him.
3. Criticism. As we learn to trust God when we’re criticized, He can trust us with His praise. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” It’s about honor and not criticism. We learn to honor God and others and trust what God is doing in the midst of the circumstances of our lives—without complaining or criticizing.
4. Betrayal. On the night Jesus was betrayed, He took bread and he gave thanks. God is interested in building big people, not building a big church. We need to keep trusting God in betrayal so He can trust us with friends who become family.
