Invitation to Pray with SVHR Jan 7, 2025 & Newsletter

Our Goals, God’s Goals

According to Columbia University, half of Americans make New Year’s resolutions. 25% of people keep these resolutions for 3 days, and less than 10% accomplish their goals. Other studies say that 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail.

What are God’s goals for us? God’s goals are for His children to succeed in all they do. Proverbs 16:3 AMP reads, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” The Amplified version gives us insight as to “the how”: Our thoughts need to become agreeable to His will. Wouldn’t it be good for our list and God’s list to overlap?

Many times, God’s goals for us seem absolutely impossible. It probably wasn’t on Abraham’s New Year’s resolution list to have a baby the year Sarah got pregnant. It probably wasn’t on David’s list to get anointed to become King of Israel when Samuel came to Jesse’s house. It definitely wasn’t on Jesus’ earthly father Joseph’s list to have his betrothed get pregnant by Holy Spirit. (In fact, it was a crisis of massive proportions, with lousy timing.) It wasn’t on the successful businesswoman Lydia’s list to meet Paul and become a Christian. One thing to note is that most of the time, God’s key turning points in people’s lives are not known in advance.

When we’re on God’s plan, there may be setbacks and delays. Joseph “succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master” (Gen 39:2, NLT). He then got falsely accused by Potipher’s wife and put in prison. He continued to succeed in prison, with no clear plan of release (see Gen 28:23, NLT). Finally, he got out and got promoted to Prime Minister (in a day!). None of these events were likely on Joseph’s New Year’s goals the way they came down. Living with God is unpredictable. But God puts the seeds for our future in our hearts and thoughts.

Another aspect of following God and His plans for our lives is experiencing uncertainty. A common line in successful people’s stories usually includes, “I’ve never done this before.” Military heroes, before their famous battles, have usually never faced the exact battle scenarios they eventually become known for in history. Bill Hewlett and David Packard didn’t know that tinkering around in a garage in Palo Alto, California would lead to inventions that would make them famous and start a world-wide company. Reverend Randy Clark couldn’t know that getting kicked out of his Baptist church for his beliefs in modern day Holy Spirit gifts and healing miracles would lead to starting Global Awakening ministries where students come from all over the world to study and learn the theological foundation and how to do healing, inner healing, and deliverance. God’s plans do not always go the way our plans would go. Sometimes the detours in life are the redirects to new paths that He wants us on. God says, “My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8, NLT).

“Jehoshaphat stood and said, ‘Listen to me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, put your trust in the Lord your God and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets and succeed’” (2 Chronicles 20:20b, NASB).

“I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars. I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden wealth of secret places, so that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.” (Isaiah 45:2-3, NASB).

This year, let’s invite God into the process of making our New Year’s resolutions, asking Him to cause our thoughts to be agreeable to His will. Welcome 2025!

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

One man’s pain/stress level wen from a 7 to a 3. He realized his healing was to be completed step by step. He has seen 100% recovery on 2 conditions, and is realizing that the 3rd condition is a process. He left feeling encouraged and hopeful.

One lady came facing a dilemma where her job was about to be terminated at a school. Her role as a teacher was about to be eliminated and she needed to make some immediate choices. She felt the scriptures she received from the team were exactly what she needed. She didn’t have any answers so her anxiety/stress over the situation didn’t really change. But she did feel like God was in the process somehow. Within 24 hours, the principal came in and offered her a permanent position in the academy. Someone resigned the same day as her appointment. She was amazed and praising God!

One lady came in with her stress at a 9 and it went to a 1. She received a great word from the team members, which was life changing for her. She felt encouraged, comforted, loved, cared for, and healed. She is exercising a new way of living for her.

The teams prayed for anxiety, marriages, dental matters, heart healing, strength to take action, wisdom, childhood trauma, cancer, collapsed lung, diabetes, fibromyalgia, God’s peace and strength, relief from fear and worry, high blood pressure, AFIB symptoms, rapid heartbeat, perseverance and endurance, life direction, whether to move or not, adjusting to life after the move, relationship with adult children, disagreements with neighbors, faith renewal, breakthrough in circumstances, counteracting witchcraft, workplace challenges, a new place to live, caring for a loved one, financial breakthrough, sciatica, sleep disorders, and trauma relief.
