Invitation to Pray with SVHR Dec 3, 2024 & Newsletter

The Blessing Cycle

Welcome to the Christmas Season. Christmas celebrates a birthday and birthdays are about reflecting on the past year and the year forward. In our hyper commercialized Christmas cycle, it might be time to ask how to intentionally create some blessing cycles that put Christ front and center.

Pray first. Most of the people reading this letter probably already do this. Before Jesus did anything, he spent hours praying to the Father about it first. It can be hard to get past the Christmas decorations and extra lists to simply ask God to open our eyes to what He wants us to see this year. In the midst of all the frenzy, there’s the less obvious and quieter needs that get God’s attention. He knows the hurting ones, the suffering ones, the neglected ones, the waiting ones, the grieving ones, the hopeful ones, the sidelined ones. If He shows us one of these, we can do something about it. We have the power to bless people with our prayers. (See 1 Timothy 2:1.) This year, let’s be aware to see and pray for others outside the spotlight.

Further, God may ask us to act on a prompting. If we see a need and we can fulfill it, it might very well be ours to carry out. We hear stories of both the secret Santa acts of shopping for, and leaving a bag of groceries on the doorstep of those who might need it. God concurrently does a work on the heart of the recipient to trust God and receive a miracle. The pump is primed by people telling their story and giving God credit, even as He uses people to carry out His idea for blessings to reality. (See Acts 6:4.)

Sometimes, God asks us to financially give. It can feel like an obligation or a “have to.” But it also shifts us from the position of begging for things in prayer to looking for ways to being the answer to someone’s prayers. We ask God for jobs, for bonuses, for openings that take advantage of our talents, for health, for help putting up the Christmas decorations, and for all kinds of little and big things. But the other side of the story is a company looking for good employees, company’s deciding to share a bumper year with employees, someone who would like to volunteer coach for the youth league, ministries that pray for healing, a young student who would gladly help an elderly neighbor put up Christmas lights to make the neighborhood look more Christmasy for a few extra bucks. There’s asking for things. And there’s being the giver of things. As we give, we receive both the emotional, and financial, benefits of giving. Our buckets of gratitude fill up like a watermill and move the circle of blessings forward. (See Galatians 6:9.)

Financial giving also allows us to give into something bigger than we can do or replicate ourselves. We probably all know someone who is a missionary where we haven’t traveled to. Or someone who works with a ministry carrying out God’s relief plan for a disaster in an area we can’t get to. Some ministries feed the homeless, work with addicts, offer women a way to keep their babies, or function after grief—all year long. Most of these organizations operate on shoestring finances and appreciate the financial help they receive. (See Luke 6:38.)

So whether we choose to have our eyes open and pray, or to act upon a prompting from God, or to financially give to ministries, this is a year to prime the pump of the blessing cycle. It will activate God’s blessing plan for us, even as we create a blessing plan for others. The part we can get intentional about is the part we choose to give to God first.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

A woman’s stress went from a 6 to a 3. She left feeling peace, calm, faith and healing. She wrote that her faith was activated.

One woman said she felt seen and heard by the prayer team ministers and by God. She said she understood better how to partner with God during this trying time in her life. She also reported sleeping better.

One man reported on going from a 4 to a 2 in his pain level. He said his appointment gave him encouragement and confirmation. He realized his healing had two phases. One was the prayer part. The second part was waiting on the Lord and the ongoing walk of faith to believe in the full manifestation of God’s healing work in his body.

The teams prayed for anxiety, marriages, dental matters, heart healing, strength to take action, wisdom, childhood trauma, cancer, collapsed lung, diabetes, fibromyalgia, God’s peace and strength, relief from fear and worry, high blood pressure, AFIB symptoms, rapid heartbeat, perseverance and endurance, life direction, whether to move or not, relationship with adult children, legal court cases, faith renewal, breakthrough in circumstances, counteracting witchcraft, workplace challenges, a new place to live, caring for a loved one, financial breakthrough, sciatica, lung cancer, sleep disorders, and trauma relief.
