Light and Miracles

Growing up, Jesus didn’t celebrate Christmas. He celebrated the Feast of Dedication (see John 10:22-23), now known as Hanukkah. Hanukkah is about a small band of Jewish rebels, lead by the Maccabee family, that recaptured the temple in Jerusalem from the much larger Greek army. Part of the story tells about how a one day supply of oil – enough to light the temple menorah—miraculously lasted eight days. That’s why the menorah has eight candles, and the ninth middle candle which is lighted first.

The themes of light and miracles continue into Jesus’ ministry. He claimed that as long as He was in the world, He was the light of the world (see John 9:5). He also called His followers the light of world. “’You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden’” (Matthew 5:14).

This year, the first day of Hanukkah overlaps with Christmas day. This incredibly rare event has only happened 4 times since 1900. Beyond the tradition of gift giving, the holidays both emphasize light and miracles. The Maccabees of the second century BCE rededicated the temple in Jerusalem to God. Is there anything in our culture that needs to be rededicated to God?

We know that light illumines the darkness. In some cases, it feels like it will take a miracle. However, that is what is being emphasized this year by the overlap of holidays. Miracles comes in all sizes and shapes. Sometimes the miracle is that turnaround point, that decision, that first step, long before the finished version comes into view. Lord, don’t let us miss any miracles You are doing in our lives, or around us, so that we can give You praise and reflect Your glory.

Scripture says that God causes our lamps to be lighted and to shine. The Lord is our endless supply of anointing oil that causes the darkness around us to be illuminated. Psalm 18:28 puts it like this, “For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; The LORD my God illumines my darkness” (AMP). This year, let us ask God to light our internal candles with His anointed one, Jesus. This will illumine any darkness around us. He shines in us. He shines around us. He shines through us. Thank You Lord for the miracle of Your light in us this Christmas and into the future.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

One woman returned and shared with us her story about visiting the Healing Rooms last year. She had been in a prolonged battle with her mother, which involved attorneys, false accusations, and police interviews. She was very exasperated and discouraged. One of her prayer team members had prayed ahead of time, and heard God say, that the answer to her prayer requests was a done deal. In the face of the circumstances, it seemed impossible and difficult to even share what God had said ahead of time. But she shared it with the visiting woman. Two weeks later, the mother visited the daughter, repented of her behavior for over seven years, apologized, and asked to reestablish their relationship. The woman said it was a miraculous answer to prayer. She wasn’t sure she believed the prayer minister when she first heard that God was going to turn the situation around. Now, she is listening to everything God has to say. In this visit to the Healing Rooms to get prayer, it wasn’t the last thing she was willing to try. It was the first thing in this new prayer request.

A woman’s stress went from a 3 to a 1. She said her experience was positive and reassuring. She felt deeply encouraged that God is with her in the situation, that Father God is leading the way, and that she shouldn’t worry. She has since felt calmer, more trusting and more surrendered to God.

One man reported that he had a good experience. He left more aware that God is helping him in areas of attack from the adversary. The back problems are still ongoing, but he believes he is in God’s will.

The teams prayed for anxiety, marriages, dental matters, heart healing, strength to take action, wisdom, childhood trauma, cancer, collapsed lung, diabetes, fibromyalgia, God’s peace and strength, relief from fear and worry, high blood pressure, AFIB symptoms, rapid heartbeat, perseverance and endurance, life direction, whether to move or not, adjusting to life after the move, relationship with adult children, disagreements with neighbors, faith renewal, breakthrough in circumstances, counteracting witchcraft, workplace challenges, a new place to live, caring for a loved one, financial breakthrough, sciatica, sleep disorders, and trauma relief.
