Irritations are our Stepping Stones
Have you ever prayed for some kind of promotion in the natural, or the spiritual realm, when some type of issue or challenge comes up in another area of life that we really don’t want to deal with? At first the project at home that needs our immediate attention might seem like an irritation to our time and attention when we wanted to be able to focus on work or a hobby. But what if the “irritation” of that home project forces us to learn a skill set that we end up needing in the work place? God sometimes sends us answers to prayers disguised in strange ways.
We might ask to be put on a special project at work just when we find out we have to be part of a family schedule to care for a relative. Taking care of a relative, providing meals away from home, and cleaning someone else’s house may not have been in our plan for the year. But sometimes we have to take care of loved ones and it’s not convenient. On the other hand, learning how to work with multiple professional caregivers, manage medications, deal with our emotions and those of our family members in a crisis might just be the skills we need for our promotion at work. We could end up dealing with contractors, multiple department priorities, frustrated employees and new bosses. The irritation of pitching in on the family front may have been the practice points that give us success in another area of life—the work world. God has a way of answering prayers rather thoroughly. He thinks through all angles before we even know we need extra help.
Whatever we’ve asked for, God has listened. He’s working at several levels to bring us well-rounded answers, even when it seems like nothing is happening. The key is to learn to praise God and trust that all the irritations and delays are actually stepping stones to a bigger answer. Once we can see it, the praise turns to thanksgiving. If we wait until we see the full picture, we only get in on the thanksgiving part. Praising God while we wait gives Him glory and stirs up our faith. Praise also allows us to receive more grace, which is what gets us through difficult situations. Often praise accelerates the journey.
So when things “irritate” us, let us ask God to turn them into stepping stones that allow us to climb up in our authority levels. We can ask Him to show us the bigger picture, and for the grace to endure until the circumstances change.
Other ways God speaks to an individual is through a personal encounter, a dream, a song on the radio, devotionals, Bible Studies or a sermon at church. Sometimes God highlights a point by having more than one way to get the same message across. However He does it, God still speaks to us in our lives today. His words are timely. Whether it’s a course correction, or a message of comfort, or a reminder of His love, the Words of God are for our benefit.
God Answers Prayer
Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:
In general, the pressure has been intense during the month of July on many of the team members as well as the visitors. Tim Sheets from Oasis Church in Ohio has preached a couple of things that offer great hope in the last month. I share them here as answers to many prayers. He said that God is getting ready to show up powerfully in many people’s lives suddenly. He is a God who is able and getting ready to show Himself strong in this season. He also encouraged listeners to not grow weary in this season. Now is the time to get our list of prayer requests out that we haven’t seen answers to yet and pray into them again. We have moved into a NOW season. Now is the time where we will see movement to our prayers. So pull out the prayers for loved ones to have an encounter with Jesus. Prayer for impossible situations and challenging relationships. Nothing is too hard for God, even in those prayer requests where we haven’t seen much shift till NOW. Answers can come in a moment.
Ahead of time, a team member saw someone standing still with a rope around their waist with each end of the rope being held by someone pulling on it. There were several ropes around her waist, being held by several people, all pulling in different directions. She was standing still. The team members asked God what the ropes were. They heard “the expectations of others.” The woman who came in for prayer said that was exactly what it felt like. The team prayed for God’s plan and destiny to be clear and for her to move into it as God lead her and not based on expectations of others. The woman felt heard by God and hopeful moving forward.
The teams prayed for anxiety, Colonoscopy results, Chromes, marriages, dental matters, damage to thumb, heart healing, strength to take action, wisdom, childhood trauma, cancer, collapsed lung, diabetes, reinjury to arm, God’s peace and strength, relief from fear and worry, high blood pressure, perseverance and endurance, life direction, whether to move or not, relationship with adult children, legal court cases, faith renewal, breakthrough in circumstances, counteracting witchcraft, workplace challenges, a new place to live, coping with the loss of a loved one, caring for a loved one with diabetes, financial breakthrough, and sciatica.
