Progressive Healing

How does God heal? Everyone recognizes instant healing in the moment when one person prays and another person receives their complete healing in the next minute. This usually falls into the category of a “Miracle Healing.” Hallelujah. But what if it takes 6 months, or a year to get healed? Does God still get the credit? Is it any less of a healing?

The apostle Luke from the New Testament was a doctor who wrote the book of Acts. He describes Jesus in Acts 10:38, “…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” The Greek word for healing used in this text is “iaomai.” This can also be translated as treatment or cure or remedy. This could also describe a modern-day antibiotic, as an example. The use of this Greek word lends itself to include healings that took several days to heal. We call this progressive healing.

In the gospel of Luke, there is the story of ten lepers crying out to Jesus for their healing. He responded with a command to do something. He told them to, “Go, show yourselves to the priests” (Luke 10:14). The next sentence of the same verse says, “And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.” He didn’t heal them on the spot. They weren’t healed till they had left Jesus’ presence, made the decision to obey his instructions, with no clear physical reason as to why they would do that. They had to choose faith to risk asking, and to risk believing what Jesus said. This had to be different that what they were expecting when they sought Jesus out. They made the decision (and it was a joint decision because they acted in unison) to obey. As they went, they got healed. You know the rest of the story. Only one returned to report that he was healed, say thank you, and give glory to God. Statistically, that’s a 10% Thanksgiving rate. We can only hope that the percentage ratio of gratitude has improved over the years.

When Prayer Team members at Silicon Valley Healing Rooms pray for visitors, we plant the seeds of healing. Some people feel the shift right away. Sometimes there are inner doors that have been opened (through patterns of behavior or thought mindsets) that need to be shut. But the seeds can still be nurtured through continued prayer, applied Scripture, thanksgiving, and praise. We don’t need to wait for 100% healing to thank God along the way for 15%, 25,%, 35%, 50%, 65% 75% or 90% improvement. Each time we get excited about a partial healing, we layer that level with thanksgiving and believe for more. The design plan is for our faith to grow along the way.

Sometimes we need to obey what the prophet or Holy Spirit says to get our healing. Much like a doctor will advise an individual with allergic reactions to stop eating wheat, or dairy, or certain spices, we might need to adjust our behavior over time for best results. For example, God may be (re-) asking us to honor the Sabbath and take that day of rest (to refresh, regroup, recharge, renew, and restore) each week. It may feel like a suggestion, but God put it in the commandment category, for OUR good. The human body (and mind and soul and spirit) works at its optimum with this principle. Research proves this out.

The Lord has given us certain Scriptures on how He provides and protects us. If we make it our job to memorize these Scriptures, and then recite them in our mind when we feel anxious at night, it can do wonderous things for letting us, including letting us fall back asleep again. Here’s one: “The Lord shall preserve [keep] you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time forth, and even forevermore” (Psalm 121:7-8). Psalm 91 offers many protection nuggets. “They will call upon me and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them” (Psalm 91;15). Again, it takes time to memorize Scripture, and really know (and believe and trust) it, to pull it up when we need it for various situations. The whole Psalm 91 is worth memorizing. Verse 10 specifically tells how to avoid any plague coming near our dwelling (including COVID). The results of this discipline of memorizing Scripture and recalling it when we need it offer long lasting help for anxiety and stress.

In summary, let us “look” and “see” how God heals, both in miraculous situations and over time with Progressive Healing.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours:

One woman’s stress went from a 5 to a 1. She said her prayer team was caring and concerned. They were prophetic, powerful and asked great questions. They confirmed things for her that God the Father has been telling her. She was able to leave old things behind as God is moving her into a new season of her life.

One man simply said, “It was all good.” He left happy and appreciative of all their time and prayer that they gave the issues presented.

One woman said she felt calm and present with God as her prayer team prayed for her. The prayer team gave her scriptures and verses that resonated with her current condition. She really appreciated the PTSD healing prayer. She left feeling encouragement and hope.

One woman reported back that an issue with her neighbor about a fence got resolved “out of the blue.” The neighbor went from being difficult to deal with and insulting and insensitive to being cooperative and willing to pay his share of the project with no delay. She had come to Healing Rooms a few months ago and hadn’t seen any change in the situation at first. She had released it to the Lord a while ago without a lot of hope for change. In the past two weeks, she got her answer to prayer. God had given her peace in the meanwhile and then “something changed,” and the neighbor acted very differently. Instant cooperation. The project is in motion.

The teams prayed for issues around anxiety, marriages, dental matters, heart healing, strength to take action, wisdom, adult trauma, cancer, diabetes, fibromyalgia, God’s peace and strength, relief from fear and worry, high blood pressure, AFIB symptoms, rapid heartbeat, perseverance and endurance, life direction, whether to move or not, relationship with adult children, disagreements with neighbors, faith renewal, breakthrough in circumstances, counteracting witchcraft, workplace challenges, settling in to a new place to live, caring for a loved one, financial breakthrough, sciatica, sleep disorders, and trauma relief.
