Invitation to Pray with SVHR Apr 15, 2025 & Newsletter

Progressive Healing 2

In the last newsletter we looked at the reality that sometimes healing comes over time, and not immediately. We don’t always know the reasons for this. We referenced the 10 lepers that Jesus healed and noted that their healing didn’t happen in front of Jesus. As they went their way toward the priest, as Jesus had told them to do, they received their healing. We noted that one of the things that we can do in the meanwhile is ponder and memorize Scriptures that talk about healing. These words act like medicine to our bodies (see Proverbs 4:20-22).

This week we focus on the truth that our healing isn’t always just about us. We may be the ones impacted by the illness, but the healing could be designed to benefit many other people along the way. There could be the answer to the prayer of the wife of the surgeon. She’s prayed for her husband’s faith for years, unable to deter him from the science of medicine. When the Christian gets healed miraculously, after meeting with the doctor who claims he’s never seen anyone recover from this type of cancer without surgery, the doctor must then process what just happened. That same Christian spent months in doctor’s offices with various specialists, in X-ray rooms, and in hospitals. Every time he was in the waiting room, there were other people there fraught with anxiety and expecting the worst. Our Christian friend, who needed his own healing, was able to pray with at least one person in the waiting rooms of every doctor he saw. Maybe that was how God could reach some otherwise unreachable people. God may have intended to heal the Christian the whole time. But along the way, other people received healing prayer from someone they knew understood their situation and the doctor’s wife got one step closer to her prayer getting answered.

Another important aspect of attaining our healing, no matter how long it takes, is what we say along the way. It is best to line our mouths up with our faith, “Father, I believe you are at work on my healing, even if I can’t see it yet.” The majority of people use their mouths to speak negatively. “I don’t see any improvement. I’m not sure it will ever happen.” “Maybe God will heal other people, but I just don’t see any change in my body.” “The doctor said my odds are not good. How can that Scripture of healing know more than my doctor?”  These sentences express doubt and unbelief, rather than faith.

It’s like a little kid whose Daddy says, “I promise to take a bike ride with you on Saturday.” The little boy is up early, hoping it’s an early morning all day adventure. Dad is still sleeping. By 10:00, the little boy asks again and the Dad says, “Soon,” while hunched over his computer, working. Lunch comes and goes. At 2:00, the Dad starts a home repair project to keep Mama happy. By 4:00, when the Dad is ready, most little boys would probably have given up and assumed their Dad had forgotten all about the promise to go on a long bike ride that day. But one little boy kept saying, “I know my Dad will find time somewhere in the day. I know my Dad will keep his promise. I know it will be good.” The little who showed faith in their Daddy is the one who wins the father’s heart. The father loves both types of boys. But the one who believes in him the whole time is the one who bring joy to the father’s heart. Further, that little boy has had a better day waiting in peace and trust for whenever his father chooses to live up to His promise. The little boy that harbors doubt, disappointment that it isn’t on his time frame, and dislike for his father’s style, has to spend some amount of time getting over his resentment for the first thirty minutes of the bike ride. That time is lost before the boy and the Dad start enjoying the bike ride.

Learning to trust God and His timing acknowledges that God is sovereign and He knows what He is doing, and why. His goals are higher than our goals (see Isaiah 55:9). God doesn’t owe us an explanation. That happens to be a common American expectation of Christians that God should explain His actions to us. Sometimes He does, and most times He doesn’t. However, our choice is to trust that God’s ways are good, and that He is good. We trust that He has weighed out all the options. He’s taken what’s best for us into consideration because He cares for us. “Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully.]” (1 Peter 5:7, AMP).

God is at work constantly with many goals for us going on all at once. As our faith grows, we can allow this process of building our faith to do its work of changing us into the best version of us that we were designed to be on this earth. It all starts with a relationship of trust with Him.

God Answers Prayer

Since our last Healing Rooms Open Hours: One woman’s stress went from an 8 to a 2. She said her experience was very good. She enjoyed herself and was at ease. She arrived very concerned about her future. But the end of the session, she was comforted and her fears were put to rest because of the prayers of the two prayer ministers that prayed for her powerfully. They were friendly and sweet. Sincer her visit, she has stopped worrying, and has been standing on the things in Scripture.

One woman asked for prayer a couple of months ago when one of her renters moved out of a home she owned. The rent had been part of her income. She pulled together her options based on her current living situation. She worked with contractors (amazingly stress-free people who delivered their work on time). She put the house up for sale, and is in escrow. She has been able to call on God, and  trust Him through each step and is ready to move into new options.

A woman said her stress went from a 9 to a 4. She loved her experience. She could see God’s hand over the last few months, guiding her and comforting her. She is also experiencing huge steps of progress in her physical needs for healing, even as these prayers continue. She is experiencing God’s blessing in her life and new direction. She is finding more peace in Him and with Him.
